One of my homeschool friends shared with me about how her and her hubby have a weekly date night at home. I thought it was such a great idea and vital for a marriage. She also has four children and we both have found it difficult to go out on a date night with our husbands. Not only is difficult for my hubby and I to find a sitter but a lot of time we don't have the extra money in our budget to go out for dinner and a movie or whatever else we want to do. Plus, hubby usually feels bad leaving the children with someone and wants to go home minutes after we leave. To be quite honest, we typically go out on a date, just the two of us, once a year. So how have we made date night work?
Well, for the last month or so hubby and I have been setting Friday night aside for our date night. We feed the children dinner about the time we normally eat and go about our night as usual. After the kids head for bed, our date officially starts. We pull the couch up to the middle of the room and put one of our new movies we rented especially for date night from Netflix and enjoy a special dinner, just the two of us, together. The movies we have chosen have varied greatly but believe it or not, we have only watched two romantic comedies. I kind of thing that is pretty funny. After the movie, we tend to stay up and chat about whatever. It's been very nice to be able to start our weekend off this way.
