This is technically our 3rd year of homeschooling although it is our 2nd consecutive year. The first year we homeschooled we had 2 children. It was something we wanted to do but not necessarily what we felt called to do. After we found out we were expecting our 3rd I decided, with hubby's blessing, to send both girls to school the following year. I had dealt with PPD (postpartum depression) after our 2nd and my hope was that if I could eliminate any extra stress it would help prevent PPD. Thankfully I did not have any issues again with PPD.
When God led us to pull the girls out of school we had four children. All I could think about was how chaotic it would be with the two little ones. How were we going to accomplish any school work and keep the little ones out of trouble? Well, it certainly has been easy (just an example) but my husband and I are amazed at how homeschooling has effected our two little ones and our family as a whole.
We have so much fun watching our 4 yr old will spend hours identifying letters, their sounds and copying them. She asks how to spell all kinds of words. We still need to work on writing left to right but it's a start. She can point out places on a map such as Australia and knows there is a Yangtze river. She wants to learn as opposed to the older two that whine or huff when given an assignment, especially when it comes to writing.
All the children love to sit down and listen to books. We have fights over where everyone sits almost daily. I usually have 2 wiggly little ones on my lap and little fingers pointing at all the pictures. Thanks to Five in a Row, we can not get through a book without 20 questions analyzing each page of the book. Love that!
The clutter and messes get to me at times but I really am enjoying the time I have with my sweet children. I'm learning more and more about them each day. I thank God for leading us back to homeschooling.
