Do you ever wake up and just know something amazing is going to happen but you can't put your finger on it? Today was one of those days.
I will start with what I knew. I knew we would go to church. I knew we would have an open service and members of the congregation would share what God spoke to them during our fast this past week. I knew that my daughters, my niece, my nephew and another girl from our church would be baptized. I knew my husband's family would be coming to witness our daughters baptism and we would all enjoy a dish to pass dinner. All those things did happen but that was only a small portion.
My husband and I were so excited today to see our daughters, our flesh and blood, baptized by their grandfather. It was excited to watch all five of the young people acknowledge our God and their desire to be baptized! We, as parents, were blessed to be able to anoint our children and prayed over them after their baptism. Can I just tell you what a thrill that was for me? I do not like to pray in public and yet I was honored to be able to pray over my girls today. I loved seeing the pure joy in their faces through the entire baptism. It was truly amazing and emotional.
What I did not expect and what literally shocked me was that my brother and his girlfriend showed up this morning! The looks of shock on my sister and my face as we realized that he was standing in our church was priceless. Picture our jaws dropping to floor with the most delightful expression. I wish that could have been captured because it would have been priceless!
Why were we shocked? Well, because my brother almost died in October. It is only by the grace of God that he is he still here. He spent over 6 weeks in the hospital, most of which was in ICU. He was very sick. At Christmas he was unable to come our way to visit because sitting in the car for over an hour drive was way too painful and he would become ill. Today he came and today he stood before us and it was like a sweet dream that we could have only prayed for.
Our congregation stood around him today and we prayed for his healing and restoration. It was an amazing and emotional experience. My words can not even begin to express it all. I praise God for his special blessings today!
